Sappi Europe has expanded its portfolio with the introduction of Algro Volume, a high-quality one-side coated paperboard designed to meet the demanding needs of packaging and graphic applications.
Produced at Sappi’s Maastricht Mill in the Netherlands, Algro Volume boasts a silky top surface, enhanced stiffness, increased bulk, bright white finish, and exceptional printing and finishing properties, making it a versatile choice for various industries.
Luis Mata, Director of Packaging & Dye Sublimation at Sappi, emphasizes the extensive capabilities of Algro Volume, stating, “Algro Volume is an outstanding board that delivers against every challenge, designed to fulfill rigorous physical demands akin to solid bleached boards (SBB). Algro Volume meets stringent compliance standards, including odour neutrality, purity for toy safety (heavy metal content), and suitability for direct food contact as per BfR XXXVI, FDA, and Austrian food legislation. Made from 100% virgin fibers, it is fully recyclable and available with FSC Mix Credit (FSC™-C015022) or 100% PEFC (PEFC/07-32-76) certification upon request.
Available in both sheets and reels, Algro Volume ranges from 220g/m² to 380g/m² in multiple grammages. It supports offset, flexo, and screen printing processes and is suitable for a wide range of finishing techniques, including embossing, varnishing, and foil lamination. Common applications include promotional materials, covers, cards, tags, tickets, and packaging for pharmaceuticals, confectionery, food and beverage, beauty, and personal care products.
