Ahlstrom announces the promotion of Konraad Dullaert to Executive Vice President of the Food and Consumer Packaging division and Chief Innovation Officer, effective June 19, 2024.

Dullaert takes the reins from Mark Ushpol, who is departing Ahlstrom for new endeavors. He will continue to hold a seat on the company's Executive Management Team. Dullaert joined Ahlstrom in 2023, leading the Science, Innovation and Sustainability division.

Dullaert boasts a proven track record in business leadership, particularly within the engineering plastics division at Royal DSM. In his new role, he will wear two hats – leading the Food and Consumer Packaging division while continuing to spearhead Ahlstrom's global innovation agenda.

The Food and Consumer Packaging division is at the forefront of Ahlstrom's commitment to sustainability. Their mission is to replace single-use plastics with more eco-friendly alternatives through innovative barrier technologies and high-performance materials that prioritize both safety and sustainability. Developing new packaging applications is a key driver of growth for this division.

Dullaert expressed his enthusiasm for this new responsibility. He acknowledges the vast potential for innovation and growth within the sustainable packaging sector. He's confident that Ahlstrom is well-positioned to collaborate with customers and develop the next generation of fiber-based packaging solutions.

Ahlstrom CEO Helen Mets fully supports Dullaert. She emphasizes his extensive leadership experience, entrepreneurial spirit, and strong customer focus as invaluable assets. Mets is confident that Dullaert will accelerate Ahlstrom's growth in food and consumer packaging, solidifying their position as a leader in sustainable specialty materials.

In conjunction with Dullaert’s appointment, Ahlstrom also announced a new role for Wouter Hut, the current Chief Procurement Officer. Hut will take on the additional responsibilities of EVP, Procurement and Sustainability, overseeing the company’s overall sustainability agenda. This move underscores Ahlstrom’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its core business strategies and leadership functions.
