Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, celebrated the completion of a €125 million investment project at its Kuopio containerboard mill in Finland.
This modernization initiative aligns with Mondi's MAP2030 sustainability goals and promises significant benefits for both production and the environment.
The project encompassed upgrades across the entire production line, including the wood yard, fiber line, evaporation plant, and paper machine. This modernized infrastructure will allow the Kuopio mill to increase its production capacity by 55,000 tonnes per annum. Notably, the paper machine now produces ProVantage Powerflute®, a high-performance fluting solution used extensively in fresh fruit and vegetable packaging.
Beyond increased capacity, the revamped mill boasts significant environmental improvements. The upgrades are designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per tonne of paper produced, while also optimizing resource and energy efficiency. This commitment to sustainability aligns with Mondi's MAP2030 strategy, which emphasizes creating circular packaging solutions and minimizing environmental impact.
