Hood Container Corporation Expands Midwest Presence with Acquisition of Independent II's Packaging Assets

Hood Container Corporation has announced plans to acquire the packaging assets of Independent II, a Louisville, Kentucky-based company.

This strategic move is set to expand Hood Container's presence in the Kentucky and Ohio region, enhancing its converting capacity in this growing market.

The acquisition will bring Independent II's state-of-the-art assets and capabilities into Hood Container's portfolio, complementing its existing footprint. Charlie Hodges, President and COO of Hood Container Corporation, expressed enthusiasm about the deal, highlighting the potential for increased market presence and growth opportunities.

Neil MacDonald, CEO of Independent II, welcomed the acquisition, stating that his team is eager to join the Hood Container family. He emphasized their commitment to continuing Independent II's 18-year mission of being the premier supplier of corrugated packaging in the greater Louisville area.

This acquisition aligns with Hood Container's growth strategy, which has included several recent purchases. In January 2024, the company acquired Sumter Packaging Corporation, a South Carolina-based corrugated packaging business.Hood Container has also been expanding its leadership team, with recent appointments aimed at enhancing its operations.

Hood Container Corporation, a subsidiary of Hood Companies, Inc., operates in seventeen states and owns linerboard, medium, and multiwall paper manufacturing operations in Tennessee and Louisiana. The company is involved in various aspects of the packaging industry, from mill operations to market distribution.

The transaction with Independent II is expected to close in the near future.This acquisition further solidifies Hood Container's position as a significant player in the North American corrugated packaging market.
