Leadership Transition at Suzano: CEO Succession and Acknowledgment of Walter Schalka's Legacy

Suzano announced a transition in its leadership structure.

In compliance with legal requirements, the Board of Directors disclosed that the current CEO, Mr. Walter Schalka, will continue in his role until July 1, 2024, after which he will step down. Mr. João Alberto Fernandez de Abreu has been approved as the future CEO and will work alongside Mr. Schalka during the transition process, beginning April 2, 2024.

Mr. Schalka will remain involved with the company as he has been nominated to join the slate for the election of the Board of Directors and may be elected or reelected to various advisory committees. Mr. Abreu brings with him a wealth of experience, with a 30-year career spanning leadership roles in prominent companies such as Shell, Raízen, and Rumo S.A.

The Board of Directors acknowledges Mr. Schalka's significant contributions to Suzano during his tenure as CEO, recognizing his visionary leadership, strategic initiatives, and commitment to operational excellence.
