Georgia-Pacific and Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC) have launched a new workforce partnership aimed at expanding local career opportunities and supporting the region’s manufacturing sector.
Announced last week, the initiative will give GPTC students access to hands-on training, mentorship opportunities, and job placement pathways directly linked to Georgia-Pacific’s area operations. The collaboration begins this fall and is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world production skills.
“Georgia-Pacific is deeply invested in the communities where we work,” said a company spokesperson. “Collaborating with GPTC allows us to build a steady talent pipeline and give students the modern skills our industry demands.”
The program will also see GPTC update its curriculum with input from Georgia-Pacific professionals, ensuring graduates are prepared for essential roles as they enter the workforce. Upcoming information sessions and career fairs will introduce students to Georgia-Pacific teams, potential internships, and hiring opportunities across the region.
Local officials say the partnership reflects a broader push to align industry and education to strengthen Georgia’s manufacturing base and keep promising talent close to home.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia-Pacific is one of North America’s leading manufacturers of fiber-based products, including packaging, tissue, building materials, and pulp. The company operates more than 150 facilities and employs approximately 30,000 people across the United States. Georgia-Pacific is a subsidiary of Koch Industries.
