Passing of David McDonald

It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of David McDonald on March 21st at the age of 72.

Dave spent 45 years in the pulp and paper industry as a research scientist and was a member of PAPTAC for many of those years. He wrote many peer-reviewed papers, gave keynote addresses, spoke at conferences and technical courses, was an active member of PAPTAC's Papermaking Technology Committee, as well as a respected reviewer for PAPTAC's Journal of Science & Technology for Forest Products and Processes (J-FOR).

His many accomplishments and contributions were recognized by industry by his being awarded both PAPTAC's and TAPPI's highest honours respectively -- the John S Bates Gold Medal and the Gunnar Nicholson Gold Medal.

He will be missed and remembered fondly by friends and family.
PAPTAC extends its sincerest condolences to Dave's family.
