WASHINGTON – Earlier today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit issued a 2-1 decision remanding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2017 Risk and Technology Review (RTR) of the existing Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standards for Pulp Mill Combustion Sources.
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Pixelle Specialty Solutions’ Androscoggin Mill is back in operation after a dramatic explosion but the loss of its pulp operation is going to hurt loggers and truckers.
Just one week after an explosion destroyed the pulp operation in the Androscoggin Mill in Jay, the mill restarted two paper machines after other mills agreed to supply pulp to keep its paper operations going.
WASHINGTON (CN) — Although certain toxins discharged from furnaces and kilns at pulp mills were not deemed dangerous in a list of substances the government monitors, the D.C. Circuit ruled Tuesday that they should have been considered harmful.
