Every employee at Resolute – be they mill worker or president and chief executive officer – is charged with identifying potential safety hazards and creating an injury-free workplace.

That proactive approach has strengthened our safety performance and led to global recognition as a leader in our field. On March 12, Resolute won the Pulp and Paper International‘s (PPI) 2019 Safety Leadership Award for our commitment to fostering a “Total Safety Organization” based on 2017 performance.

The Award, presented to Resolute during a ceremony in Vienna, Austria, honors organizations which made the biggest advances and demonstrated the strongest commitment to workplace safety. Resolute’s new safety audit process contributed to our improved performance by reinforcing the need for individual accountability. As a result, we had achieved our best-ever OSHA incident rate in 2017 and our lowest-ever severity rate.

While the award doesn’t account for 2018, last year we surpassed our record-breaking 2017 performance.

Resolute last won a PPI Award in 2015 in the managing risk category. The PPI Awards annually honor leadership, vision, innovation and strategic accomplishments within the pulp and paper industry, and are the only global awards dedicated to recognizing the achievements of companies, mills and individuals in the sector.
